It makes sense that they start forming opinions right from the get go.

Luckily, just like people, goats can miss the best, earliest opportunity and still turn out ok - as Lightening proves. She was one whose kidding we missed, and has now become a fully friendly (even needy) little goat.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16597222061924853443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1185769087747426024.post-42659093257113719042012-07-23T05:03:52.642-07:002012-07-23T05:03:52.642-07:00Just want to report, that the baby goat that has a...Just want to report, that the baby goat that has a new home near me, is very, very friendly! Your socialization efforts paid off! I do think that it really makes a difference if you are there at the birth and help clean them off. The kids we had this year seemed to prove that point-- the ones that I handled from birth as opposed to the ones others handled seemed to be more bonded with me. The kids that were born unexpectedly early with no one there for the first hour or so, were the "wildest". And, vice versa, if the mother goat is not able to lick and clean their kids, there's a good chance she will reject them.Julie/AC Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09156227681768432484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1185769087747426024.post-41345827729761482012-06-11T12:24:57.034-07:002012-06-11T12:24:57.034-07:00We will probably discuss this more fully in anothe...We will probably discuss this more fully in another post, but we do not keep all the babies. For now, there are still people out there who can give great homes to wethers, and plenty who want does. But I think urban farming is in for a rude awakening in this regard. Reproduction leads to excess.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16597222061924853443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1185769087747426024.post-36556550945071932522012-06-07T20:36:32.954-07:002012-06-07T20:36:32.954-07:00Incredible!
